I have a new appreciation for the people who serve in our nation’s armed forces.
I thought about this after running around with a paintball gun this weekend. Since getting hit with a paintball is not a pleasant experience (they can reach speeds of 190 mph), I was dreading it.
Eventually I got shot and left the playing field. With the match over, I got to relax, though I could feel the adrenaline still coursing through me. No harm done.
Afterwards, I tried to imagine for a moment how running around with a paintball gun like an idiot compares to being a solider: nothing is a “game”, there is little downtime (even at night, if you’re in the field) and if you get hit you can die instantly.
How the fuck do those people do it?
I think, I’m not sure, (don’t quote me on this) but I believe the method for inducing such heroism is called brainwashing (echo here).
I was gonna finally put a comment in this thread but it would obviously do absolutely nothing to anything anywhere anyhow. poooty poooo. pew pew.
woo.

As seen here
Well I just heard from Victoria and it looks like they’ll be showing up in Portland around Tuesday (7/29) afternoon. Right now they are around Florence on the Oregon Coast.
Have nothing planned while they are here at The A House other than a place for them to stay and a BBQ or 2 or 3. We’ve been pretty busy with work and house fixin’ as we also have a house warming party coming up in a couple weeks with family from Hawai’i and friends from Seattle converging on East Cully. If you have Vimeo meet-up plans with these guys I guess you all will just get in touch with them, you can also swing by the A house anytime. Ring 206-679-9422 for directions.
Behold, the circle of confusion.
This explains everything.
Channel EQ
Currently my favorite tool in Soundtrack Pro. I’m finding this to be the single most useful and flexible thing to use in this program. You can get really precise with it.
That’s how long it takes to bike from 74th and Prescott to 15th and Belmont, just in case anyone was wondering. Its a Beautiful Pizza’s pepperoni pizza is pretty amazing. Also I learned from the guy in the Stumptown Annex that the vacuum method of coffee brewing, especially using the Cona brewer, makes the most “transparent” cup of coffee. This means that all the different flavors are preserved and you are more likely to taste all of them instead of it being all mashed up.
hmmmm…
DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist in about 5 hours.
Shadow don’t disappoint like your last album. That was assy.
(i meant the outsider album)
This is kind of crazy, he’s probably like 5 years old.
That’s SO sick. How amazing to see the progression, to see how much his control develops. Starting so young, all those tiny little muscles, especially in his neck and shoulders, will be so developed and when he’s older his flexibility and control will just be rediculous. Imagine the shit he’ll be doing in another 5 years.
