oh geeeeeesh
One of the computers running the Windows XP operating system used for the opening ceremony crashed part way into the ceremony and displayed Blue Screen of Death for the remainder of the ceremony. The final torch bearer, Li Ning, incidentally flew close by this BSOD but they did not appear together on the broadcast.

of all the things to believe or not, this is completely believable. How crappy. I wonder if it was a pirated copy. <ultura sarcasm>
That's awesome China
Famous dancer Liu Yan fell during practice on July 27, 2008 and became paralysed as a result of her injuries after having fallen on her head and back, and then not being seen by paramedics for 50 minutes due to the tight security cord.

Ok I know, how much of this shit is true seeing that it is via Wikipedia? blah blah blah, but it is a comment i had read searching for clips on the opening ceremony (which I can’t seem to find on youtube - unbelievable! yeah.) Then did a search about the injury and found all this coverage via chinese sources, none of them mentioning the almost 1 hour delay in help. Then I went over to wikipedia to read about the opening ceremony and not only found info about weather enhancing rockets launched into the already polluted China sky, but found a short article about the fallen dancer.
So far I have no interest in the Olympics, I haven’t for a long time. This makes me care even less, but also makes me feel sorry for the athletes.
Oh and not to mention all the shit the Olympics fuck with in order for it to happen and the fact that people forget about that shit and just accept it.
“Oooh wow that’s a cool stadium. Who was the architect?”
Wha wa wah?!
Weather modification technology was used in an attempt to prevent rain during the Ceremony. A total of 1104 rockets were launched to keep rain clouds from entering Beijing. This is some of the loosest skateboarding I’ve seen in a loooong time.
thanks gremmmm.

Wow these turned out great!
“Without a doubt, the business model of network television is suffering from competition with other channels who operate with fewer content restrictions,” says Robert Thompson, a professor of popular culture and television at Syracuse University. “This country’s obsession with not uttering naughty words and not talking about s-e-x is borderline psychotic. Strike that, it is psychotic.”
While the major networks struggle to create compelling content that meets the FCC’s rigid decency standards, HBO, Showtime and AMC have pumped out profitable hits such as The Sopranos, Sex & The City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Weeds and Mad Men — shows that could not exist on broadcast television. And not only is the public accepting of the adult content, many people pay to watch it.
Could a Little Indecency Save Network TV?
Though it’s worth noting that it’s also scared advertisers concerned with content, not just the FCC.

When you go to other countries, sometimes there are SWEARS and NAKED PEOPLE on broadcast television!!! The downside is that your head bursts into flames and you get cancer.

I heard people get boners.
Exotic?
Really.

Yeah so far I’m liking:
The chunky-ness - at first I didn’t like it but the more I looked through posts and realized I didn’t have to click as much, because there are so many image tumblrs that I’m following, I appreciate it.
The Inline Notification - seeing when someone starts to follow you is great because you can check them out instantly.
The Page Curls in the corner - nice.
Don’t like:
Text posts with images in them - you have to click and it still goes to the actual page. I want it to just drop down or expand or something. OR Just display the image.
